Commentary for Trinity Sunday

Everywhere we find traces, marks or imprints, as it were, of the Blessed Trinity, because everything was created by the Father, through the Son, and in the Holy Ghost. All of creation can be divided into three worlds: the spiritual (invisible), the material (visible), and the human, which is both spiritual (possessing a soul) and material (possessing a body).

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament

On Thursdays, in St. Mary's Church, the Blessed Sacrament is exposed from 8:00am and will continue for the whole day, concluding with the Pro-Life Holy Hour at 7:00pm. Also, in St. Columba's Church, every Thursday, there is Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament after the 10:00am Mass until 12 noon.

You can also tune in live to Radio Immaculata and participate in the Pro-Life Holy Hour live from St. Mary's Church at 7:00pm.

Sacred Heart of Jesus

Throughout June, which is the month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Litany of the Sacred Heart will be prayed in St Mary’s Church every day during Holy Hour (7-8pm), except on Wednesdays, when it will be prayed after the 6.30pm Rosary.

Fire Safety Training

If you have been approached by Jane about serving the parish as a fire safety volunteer, please remember that the fire safety training course will take place at 7pm on Friday 1st June in St Mary’s Hall.

First Friday & First Saturday Devotions

Next month’s First Friday devotions take place at Sacred Heart Church in Fareham on Friday 1st June. Holy Rosary at 9am, followed by Holy Mass and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. During Adoration, there will be Sacred Heart devotions and a meditation on Jesus’ Carrying of the Cross, and the Sacrament of Confession will also be available. The day’s devotions end with Benediction at 10.30am. The following day, Saturday 2nd June, join us at St Mary’s Church for First Saturday devotions, which begin with the Holy Rosary at 9am. Sung Latin Mass is celebrated at 9.30am, followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament with a second Holy Rosary and a meditation on the Scouring at the Pillar. Confessions will be heard throughout the morning, which ends with Benediction at 12 noon. The Marian Group will then meet in the Upper Room of St Mary’s Hall, where there will be a shared lunch and Marian catechesis by one of the friars.

Adoration Outreach

Every Thursday, between 1pm and 3pm, a group of parishioners go out onto the High Street to invite passers-by into St Mary’s to light a candle and spend some time in the presence of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. This has proven to be a very successful outreach, and a very rewarding ministry for those involved. If you are available on Thursday afternoons, if only for half an hour or so, why not come along and take part?

St. Monica's Group

June 04, 2018

The St Monica Mother’s Prayer Group will meet again in St Mary’s Church at 7pm on Tuesday 5th June. This is an opportunity for mothers of the parish to come together to pray the Holy Rosary and participate in a short Bible study session.

Parish Walking Pilgrimage

August 18, 2018

Over the weekend of 18th/19th August, Father Pio will be leading a pilgrimage along the Way of Saint Augustine, a path that runs from Canterbury Cathedral to the Shrine of St Augustine in Ramsgate, to commemorate the ancient journey undertaken by St Augustine, the Apostle of England, in the 6th Century, when he was sent by Pope Gregory the Great to bring the Faith to England. The walk is around 19 miles long, along which we will recite the Holy Rosary, sing hymns and have the chance to speak with others. Then, on arriving at the Shrine of St Augustine, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered. This pilgrimage is open to all who are able to maintain a good walking pace over the required distance. For more details, to sign up, or kindly to sponsor the walk, please speak to Father Pio or call the parish office on 02392 580119. The cost of the pilgrimage is £20 per person.
