Fr. Serafino M. Lanzetta: The Church’s Disease Is Called Post-modernism. The Diagnosis of a Theologian

Here is an article written by Fr. Serafino M. Lanzetta in which he analises the crisis afflicting the Church today and and it's roots which, according to him, can be reduced to two: the opposition, within the Church, to the encyclical Humanae Vitae and the silence on doctrine or, to use another expression of the author, the use of clerical power to pervert good doctrine.

Pro-Life Appeal

The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) has produced postcards for you to send a message to your MP urging him/her to vote against a dangerous new bill that seeks to decriminalise abortion completely, thereby removing the few remaining legal protections for unborn babies in this country. The bill will be put before the House of Commons for a vote on Tuesday 23rd October. You can obtain one of these postcards, which are available at the entrance of St. Mary's Church, and send it to Caroline Dinenage, the MP for Gosport.

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament

On Thursdays, in St. Mary's Church, the Blessed Sacrament is exposed from 8:00am and will continue for the whole day, concluding with the Pro-Life Holy Hour at 7:00pm. Also, in St. Columba's Church, every Thursday, there is Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament after the 10:00am Mass until 12 noon.

You can also tune in live to Radio Immaculata and participate in the Pro-Life Holy Hour live from St. Mary's Church at 7:00pm.

In addition, Adoration now takes place at St. Mary's every weekday morning, from 9am until 12 noon in the Chapel of the Crucifix., for the needs of Holy Mother Church in these times of great turbulence.

Adoration Outreach

Every Thursday, between 1pm and 3pm, a group of parishioners go out onto the High Street to invite passers-by into St Mary’s to light a candle and spend some time in the presence of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. This has proven to be a very successful outreach, and a highly rewarding ministry for those involved. If you are available on Thursday afternoons, if only for half an hour or so, why not come along and take part?
