Fr. George Roth: Only the Pure of Heart Will See God and in Eternity

Today many do not believe in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. This was true also when Jesus promised His Flesh to the Jews after the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes. Many walked away from Him. Now as then, many do not believe in the Holy Eucharist, and that is why they do not go to Holy Mass on Sunday.

Holy Day of Obligation: Solemnity of the Assumption

August 14, 2018

Please note that the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Wednesday 15th August, is a Holy Day of Obligation, which means that all Catholics must attend Mass. On Tuesday 14th August, there will be the Vigil Mass at St. Columba's at 6pm. On Wednesday 15th August, at St. Mary's, there will be two Masses: at 10am (English) and at 7pm (Solemn High Mass in Latin).

New Book on Fatima by Fr. Serafino Lanzetta

Father Serafino’s latest book, Fatima at the Heart of the Church: God’s Vision of History and Oblative Spirituality, is now available to buy from Amazon.co.uk. A Kindle edition is also available for download. All parishioners are warmly invited to the official book launch, which will be held in St Mary’s Hall on Friday 26th October at 7pm.

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament

On Thursdays, in St. Mary's Church, the Blessed Sacrament is exposed from 8:00am and will continue for the whole day, concluding with the Pro-Life Holy Hour at 7:00pm. Also, in St. Columba's Church, every Thursday, there is Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament after the 10:00am Mass until 12 noon.

You can also tune in live to Radio Immaculata and participate in the Pro-Life Holy Hour live from St. Mary's Church at 7:00pm.

St. Mary's Renovations

Thank you to everyone who has made a contribution to the St Mary’s Beautification Fund, which currently stands at about £16,000. If you have not yet made a donation, please consider doing so, as we are still a long way from reaching our fundraising goal. Cheques should be made payable to “PRCDTR–Gosport”.

Adoration Outreach

Every Thursday, between 1pm and 3pm, a group of parishioners go out onto the High Street to invite passers-by into St Mary’s to light a candle and spend some time in the presence of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. This has proven to be a very successful outreach, and a highly rewarding ministry for those involved. If you are available on Thursday afternoons, if only for half an hour or so, why not come along and take part?

International Rosary Campaign

The organisers of the American ‘Rosary Coast to Coast’ are inviting Catholics across the world to join them in a 54-day novena from the Feast of the Assumption (15th August) to the Feast of the Most Holy Rosary (7th October), praying five decades of the Rosary daily for the protection of life, marriage, family and religious liberty worldwide. The 54-day Rosary novena will be prayed in our homes, with our families. But on the last day, October 7th, the faithful will gather together at 3pm in churches and chosen venues, and together with Our Blessed Mother under the Cross, will pray the Rosary for Faith, Life and Peace.

Parish Walking Pilgrimage

August 18, 2018

Over the weekend of 18th/19th August, Father Pio will be leading a pilgrimage along the Way of Saint Augustine, a path that runs from Canterbury Cathedral to the Shrine of St Augustine in Ramsgate, to commemorate the ancient journey undertaken by St Augustine, the Apostle of England, in the 6th Century, when he was sent by Pope Gregory the Great to bring the Faith to England. The walk is around 19 miles long, along which we will recite the Holy Rosary, sing hymns and have the chance to speak with others. Then, on arriving at the Shrine of St Augustine, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered. This pilgrimage is open to all who are able to maintain a good walking pace over the required distance. For more details, to sign up, or kindly to sponsor the walk, please speak to Father Pio or call the parish office on 02392 580119. The cost of the pilgrimage is £20 per person.

LMS Walsingham Pilgrimage

Every year, the Latin Mass Society organises a walking pilgrimage from Ely to Walsingham (59 miles) for the conversion of England and in honour of Our Lady of Walsingham. This year’s pilgrimage takes place over the August bank holiday weekend, beginning with registration in Ely on Thursday 23rd August, and concluding with devotions in Walsingham on Sunday 26th August (although there is also a Sung Latin Mass in the Slipper Chapel on the Monday for those who are staying overnight). Traditional Solemn High Latin Mass is celebrated every day, and the Holy Rosary, traditional devotions, chants and songs are offered up along the way. For more information, please email info@lms.org.uk or telephone 02074 047284. Sponsors and volunteers are also needed.
